About Lochaber College

Lochaber College, founded in 1998 is a full Academic Partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands Millennium Institute (UHIMI), and seeks to meet the learning needs and aspirations of the communities of Lochaber on an open inclusive basis to the highest possible standards.

The College negotiates, co-ordinates and quality assures learning opportunities from a wide range of providers both from within the UHI and the local community. At each of our learning centres we offer courses accessible on an evening, part-time, full-time, or modular basis, from leisure classes to full degree programmes.

Aims and Objectives

  • To stimulate the demand for training and learning
  • To improve the match between demand and supply
  • To help individuals grow personally and professionally
  • To help businesses grow by developing skills at all levels
  • To help communities to grow through local delivery
  • To encourage the development of training services

There are currently five linked Centres which together form Lochaber College: Fort William, Kinlochleven, Mallaig, Kilchoan and Strontian, and the key aim of the college staff team in each is to provide the most welcoming and supportive learning environment possible for students of all ages and of all disciplines.
